A shadow box is a deep glass enclosed frame containing found and collected three-dimensional objects of art, photographs, drawings and paintings. The artist essentially creates an assemblage that has the dramatic visual effect of a surrealist painting.
"I’ve looked forward to putting this exhibit together for quite a while. Visitors to the gallery will have the opportunity to see the work of artists who have been working in the medium for years, the work of some of my students, as well as the work of Ted Largman, who is an accomplished shadow box artist", states curator Mansa K. Mussa.
